We are now rolling out Ford Power-Up 4 and 5 software updates to our customers in Europe. Details of these can be found later in this post.
Please read this first
To ensure a smooth delivery of these updates we strongly recommend:
The following is also very important to ensure undisrupted delivery:
We deploy updates, when they become available, in batches across a period of time. The vehicles selected for each batch will be chosen at random, so please don’t worry if you see someone online receive an update before you do, we haven’t forgotten you! It may take a few weeks for your updates to start arriving and there may also be a few weeks or more between each update. Your car will need to be driven regularly in order to receive all of the updates, if you are away on your holidays or business without your car it’ll be alright and the updates will resume once you are back home and on the road again.
With the many factors involved in deploying software updates to a vehicle, in a small number of cases, it may take more than one attempt to successfully deploy an update. If you do happen to receive an unsuccessful update please don’t panic, we will manage these situations remotely and ensure re-deployment happens, you won’t need to do anything.
Ford Power-Up Software Update 4 & 5 Summary
Please note: Different vehicles and different model years may receive different updates due to different SYNC 4 systems and different vehicle content.
Many updates are background updates. You will not notice any difference in your vehicle following these particular updates. These are essential to the continued smooth running of your vehicle’s connectivity, over-the-air functionality, and digital products and services such as FordPass. They must all be installed in order to receive any subsequent updates and new features.

Ford Power-Up 4.2.2.1
Ford Power-Up 4.2.2.1 brings several significant updates to SYNC:
Please note: As this is a major update to SYNC, you may find a small number of settings reverting to default. These may include your drive modes and automatic folding mirrors. I would recommend that after this update, you check that these settings are as you require them.

@Rob Could you please update PU4/5? It seems atleast MY23.25 of Focus has gotten
4.2.2 and 4.2.4.. Maybe finished for PU4/5?!
Could you also tell us if there are any updates for PU6 coming in the near future?
The bugs in 4.2.x, while not so much for me, probably are VERY irritating for those
using the nav often and drive for longer trips daily.
The bluetooth bug however is very irritating for me though.
Usually works the first 10-20 minutes after starting the car then starts to deteriorate
until you can’t hear anything.
Could you confirm if this are fixable with a firmware update for the APIM?
on 08 April 2024 03:36 15
Hi @HSamwel There is no further APIM firmware update available over-the-air or through the dealer tool for Focus at this time. We do not have any plans for Ford Power-Up 6 for Focus yet.

Hi @Rob
Thanks for your answer. A couple of further questions if you don't mind?
In your knowledge, is there any version of APIM hardware that works
better or faultless for Focus?
If there's no plans for PU6, is there atleast some work ongoing for a
bugfix release to get SYNC working for Focus?

I honestly abandoned my Focus and swapped it for a brand Audi Q3 PHEV, I was thinking to get the new Kuga, but seeing the issues and sudden ,,abandon" of sync4 development for Focus, made me think a few times if I should purchase the new Kuga or not

Since Ford didn't really provide any meaningful answers here, I contacted customer service.
After some back and forth I ended up with a PowerUp specialist.
He confirmed that Ford is already aware of the problems and is working on a bugfix.
This will be available in the next update or the one after that.
Unfortunately there is no date yet when this will happen.
I will now get feedback when there is something new - at the latest every 14 days if nothing has happened by then.
There are probably so many vehicles affected by this bug that the broken update is currently suspended.
