We are now rolling out Ford Power-Up 4 and 5 software updates to our customers in Europe. Details of these can be found later in this post.
Please read this first
To ensure a smooth delivery of these updates we strongly recommend:
The following is also very important to ensure undisrupted delivery:
We deploy updates, when they become available, in batches across a period of time. The vehicles selected for each batch will be chosen at random, so please don’t worry if you see someone online receive an update before you do, we haven’t forgotten you! It may take a few weeks for your updates to start arriving and there may also be a few weeks or more between each update. Your car will need to be driven regularly in order to receive all of the updates, if you are away on your holidays or business without your car it’ll be alright and the updates will resume once you are back home and on the road again.
With the many factors involved in deploying software updates to a vehicle, in a small number of cases, it may take more than one attempt to successfully deploy an update. If you do happen to receive an unsuccessful update please don’t panic, we will manage these situations remotely and ensure re-deployment happens, you won’t need to do anything.
Ford Power-Up Software Update 4 & 5 Summary
Please note: Different vehicles and different model years may receive different updates due to different SYNC 4 systems and different vehicle content.
Many updates are background updates. You will not notice any difference in your vehicle following these particular updates. These are essential to the continued smooth running of your vehicle’s connectivity, over-the-air functionality, and digital products and services such as FordPass. Ford Power-Up 4.2.2.1 brings several significant updates to SYNC:
Please note: As this is a major update to SYNC, you may find a small number of settings reverting to default. These may include your drive modes and automatic folding mirrors. I would recommend that after this update, you check that these settings are as you require them.

This is absolutely amazing news and music to my ears.
I think that I’m more frustrated that we’re all telling them that we only had this fault since 4.2.2
I didn’t have the issues previously, then more and more people come on and say the same.
it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to deduce, actually fault wasn’t there previously, so did new software cause the issue.
No disrespect to Garages, but there mechanics and many of them will plug the car to sync to update. They install what ever is the latest version and rightly so as that was the fault, Sync update.
So they will have thought the update was corrupt.
if the fault stays the same, they will more than likely start throwing parts at it. That’s how we do things.
odd one may get fixed as the fault may have been the same, but caused differently. But when there are lots all saying the same. Since the last update, we’re all getting the same issues, then this could and should have been then looked into differently.
It would be much better if there is a dedicated Ford sync email team or sync fault team, we send bugs to.
reporting them on the car gives u little option when u have to choose “Other “
Ypu don’t even get an option for a brief description.
while I understand that diagnostics have to be done, I completely get that.
but when the volume of people are having issues in multiple forums all over EU, then this should and could have been handled better.
Companies get a bad rap with customer service and it what so frustrating.
all that was needed was some one from Ford couldn’t just advise us this and just say same, or even say, we’re are seeing a increase in issues and it’s been investigated.
obtain all the vins.
People would have been so happy just to know it’s been looked into.
This is why people end up leaving companies and like buying another brand car.
o think why these companies don’t is admit on websites or anything they have an issue as it’s admitting liability.
But this is the attitude we need to change in the industry.
its not about admitting anything, its about being honest, supportive and offering that level of customer care we all should expect,
for me, this has left me extremely frustrated and now having 2nd thoughts on my next purchase,
I’ve had every version of the Focus, and 7 Fords focus to that, all the way from a Y reg to my new 72 plate.
So it’s not like I’ve not been loyal. But then Loyalty counts for nothing now a days
Do please keep us informed though and hopefully it won’t be long for the fix.
Thank you. Best news I’ve heard today 👍

Hello Everyone,
Glad to be here in this spectacular Ford community.
I have Taurus 2023 with Sync 4 version 22047_PRODUCT (383)
I'm looking to update my Sync.
However, I couldn't do that online.
Looking to send my a way to do it manually through USB.
Thanks in advance.

Hi, the Forum is for UK model spec cars only I’m afraid.
I know for Sync 4 in the UK, there are no updates via USB. Its all done OTA (Over the Air)
The best way forward for yourself, would either speak to your local Ford garage on where you purchased the Taurus.
I’m not sure on which country the Taurus is from, but I would also check your local Ford Website.
This link is for the USA site that does show and advise on how to use Sync 4 regarding switching on for the updates.
May be that can advise you,
good luck
