We are now rolling out Ford Power-Up 4 and 5 software updates to our customers in Europe. Details of these can be found later in this post.
Please read this first
To ensure a smooth delivery of these updates we strongly recommend:
The following is also very important to ensure undisrupted delivery:
We deploy updates, when they become available, in batches across a period of time. The vehicles selected for each batch will be chosen at random, so please don’t worry if you see someone online receive an update before you do, we haven’t forgotten you! It may take a few weeks for your updates to start arriving and there may also be a few weeks or more between each update. Your car will need to be driven regularly in order to receive all of the updates, if you are away on your holidays or business without your car it’ll be alright and the updates will resume once you are back home and on the road again.
With the many factors involved in deploying software updates to a vehicle, in a small number of cases, it may take more than one attempt to successfully deploy an update. If you do happen to receive an unsuccessful update please don’t panic, we will manage these situations remotely and ensure re-deployment happens, you won’t need to do anything.
Ford Power-Up Software Update 4 & 5 Summary
Please note: Different vehicles and different model years may receive different updates due to different SYNC 4 systems and different vehicle content.
Many updates are background updates. You will not notice any difference in your vehicle following these particular updates. These are essential to the continued smooth running of your vehicle’s connectivity, over-the-air functionality, and digital products and services such as FordPass. Ford Power-Up 4.2.2.1 brings several significant updates to SYNC:
Please note: As this is a major update to SYNC, you may find a small number of settings reverting to default. These may include your drive modes and automatic folding mirrors. I would recommend that after this update, you check that these settings are as you require them.

I saw that there was ”bigger change” done to Focus from 1 september but I wasn’t aware that they are called MY23.25 after that.
The thing I know has changed is the whole stolen vehicle things in the car.
A lot of sensors added. This was to get the Ford Secure to fully work.
Also crash sensors for if the car are too off its horisontal plane, like turned on is side or on to its roof.
I’m not aware of any other changes. I have actually compared my car with a ST manufactured in february 2023. Only two ”minor” things was changed in the specs and both where with sensors regarding theft or crashes like mentioned above.
My car was manufactured 30 august 2022. But Ford Secure still tells me all
functions are working. Which is strange.
Especially the things like if the car has been moved without being turned on.
I guess it uses the GPS to make out it has moved without driving.
My guess is Ford Secure is the reason MY22.50 gets the latest 4.2.x before the MY23.25 which already has the hardware.

Reading back up the thread, a few things to comment on (in no particular order).
The 23.23MY Focus started being introduced in Dec 22 / Jan 23. The MY change was minor and nothing I would expect to impact software updates over-the-air.
The APIM (SYNC) module is the same part between 22.5MY and 23.25MY. I'm not aware of any chip shortage issues affecting SYNC on Focus and anyway the specifications would be exactly the same even if supply had changed. This is highly unlikely to affect software updates.
The difference in release timing between 22.5MY and 23.25MY software updates is purely down to the number of updates for each and our testing sequence, not content. It's not uncommon to release software updates at different times for different MYs.
There will not be a Ford Power-Up 5 for Focus. For the other vehicles, there was only one update to the gateway module that's not required on Focus.
There is no confirmed plan as yet for Ford Power-Up 6 on Focus. If or when any information becomes available, we will of course post this in the community.
The individual issues reported here have been passed on internally. As we cannot diagnose the exact symptoms or causes remotely, we are only able to pass on very limited information. We would still recommend using our customer relationship centre team and dealer network to investigate individual vehicle concerns. They are supported by our technical teams who can assist with fully diagnosing the symptoms and issues, determining if there are any repairs available, and providing more detailed reports of any unresolved issues to our engineers.

Yeah, I think it’s strange that some has the nav freezing and others not.
Especially with the same MY.
Although the firmware of the actual modules like APIM can differ. Is there any
recommended version you should have? Or will latest just work fine?
Is it recommended to have the module, most apparent to these issues, firmwares
updated by Ford to see if it helps? Or do you think the issues is with SYNC?

Btw rob, if not a secret.. Could you please tell us exactly what changed
1 september 2022 with Focus? Also what changed for MY23.25?
The september change was big enough to atleast have Ford issue a new
owner’s manual revision.

As I am all in on CarPlay, I haven't really noticed any issues with this software release. But I must reiterate that I do not use the Sync audio or Sync maps at all.
the only problem I have noticed recently is that the battery appears to be low more often that it should be, disabling remote features and meaning the interior lights don't come on when getting in to the car. Could well be something software related as I have heard other reports of the same thing
