This post contains a list of features missing (and desired) in the FordPass App.

This post is specific to FordPass App v5.0.1 unless stated otherwise.

List of missing FordPass App features:

1. Fuel remaining information.

2. List of current warranties for the vehicle including the manufacturer warranty and purchased extended and other Ford warranties and maintenance service packages).

3. Link to applicable Owners Manual in various searchable and non-searchable formats.

4. Ability to enter your own service information.

List of desired FordPass App features:

5. Show door lock status (for each door, rear hatch and rear window: show door locked or unlocked, rear hatch open or closed, rear window open or closed).

6. Show window position status (are windows up or down).

7. Indication on Home Screen when a vehicle software update is needed.

Suggested solution: On the Home Screen at the top right is the half person icon - when there is a message (including a recall) or a software update needed, there should be an indicator displayed next to the person icon.

Seeing that indicator and clicking on the person icon takes you to your Account screen, at the top is Messages (typically that says “No New Messages”), when there is a message or a software update, a message for that software update should be shown.

And, in addition, clicking on Service (bottom right), then clicking on Vehicle Health shows Active Alerts at the top - a pending software update should be included in the Active Alerts section.

App should provide the following “user guide” info:
1. State how the FordPass App knows what vehicle software (e.g. Sync version, etc.) is installed in the vehicle or if the App polls the Ford website with the vehicles VIN looking for open software updates.

I had it already installed and it works fine.

Function availability is going to vary based on model, year and the calibration/firmware of the TCU more than the version of Sync as that is where the data in FordPass is polled from.

So as an example a 2018 Fusion/Mondeo TCU cannot report back the TPMS due to a TCU hardware limitation, a 2019MY+ can.

The developers need to look at building on top of the features that were in 4.x rather than slicing and dicing them based on what Ford's internal group thinks.

Maybe the best solution here is to treat it like some of the weather apps, give the user a selection box for what they want to see.

The FordPass app has no knowledge of what version/build of Sync is installed any more than the syncmyride.com site does.  If you perform the update with a USB and don't upload the log as far as the site is concerned the update never happened.

Window positions are something the vehicle logic doesn't track, the calibration info in the window motors is simple bounce back on resistance of the limit switch, not that it has moved X number of mm in the open or closed. It only knows move this far in either direction and stop, hence the reason that when the calibration gets out of whack you see bounce back on one touch up/down.

Lock status isn't tracked by the logic in the car, that said factory perimeter or Ford supplied add on security security arm/disarm status is, so in theory the app could show armed or disarmed.

The information for FordPass comes from the TCU not the APIM, the only real interaction with the APIM is that it allows authentication for access and the ability to remove it.
