Mach-e. The USA version has a button in FordPass to open the bonnet (Frunk). The U.K. version doesn’t and it is something to do with PAAK which is available in the USA but is not available in the U.K. due to security/insurance rules. I don’t need PAAK, but it would be nice to be able to open the bonnet using the FordPass App. Parking at my daughters house the driveway is pretty narrow so you have to park with the passenger door close to the fence in order to leave enough room to get out of the door. To open the bonnet in this instance becomes impossible because you have to open the passenger door to fully pull on the bonnet release lever.

I was sold the car from the dealership on the understanding that I could utilise the PAAK feature. It's not a big deal that I can't (probably wouldn't have used it anyway) but to get some of the features like opening the frunk from the app would be really useful. Even opening the frunk from the screen in the car would be a plus!

Hi @MikeC @Robblockwood the "Frunk" feature is in development and the plan is for it to be delivered Q2 this year. It'll be a much-needed addition once it's in the app!

In terms of Phone as a Key (PAAK), it's not available in the UK yet as it needs to meet certain standards. This is also a feature that seems to be quite popular.

For the U.K. market where we do not have PAAK, I really do not think many U.K. owners are that bothered. If I only used my phone to operate the car I would worry that the phone battery goes flat and I cannot drive the car. The key fob in the U.K. is a Fiesta type fob (the USA and elsewhere has the Mustang logo fob) and to me is perfectly adequate…it does what I want it to do.

On the point about the key fob, the Fiesta type fob has a sleep mode I.e. when not moved for approx 2 mins it goes into sleep mode, whereas the Mustang type fob apparently does not, and therefore this opens up to a thief cloning your key code and then stealing the car.

@MikeC  That sleep mode feature on the 'Fiesta' fob is really cool, a similar thought process went into the development of SecuriAlert. Aiming to give people notice of unusual key activity which could indicate cloning.

Agreed it is really cool. I tested the sleep mode by locking the car followed by putting the key fob on the ground by the drivers door. I waited approx 2 mins and then tried to open the door. The car remained locked until I picked up the fob. Brilliant!

Hi @MikeC, I have moved this to accepted as it is something that the team is actively working on for release in Q2

Thanks Darren, that is indeed great news 👍

I also think having a frunk release on the app would be a great feature. Getting back to the car and having to squeeze into the passenger side to release the frunk or powering the car up and releasing it via the centre display isn’t very streamlined. This idea gets my vote!

@Robblockwood you can open the frunk via centre display. Press the car logo top right, then the access button, then you can open both the frunk and the boot.

Hi @jonno70 many thanks for your comment, I looked at this a while ago after viewing some  comments from our USA friends, but not available on my Mach-e. I’m still on version 1.6, and apparently this is available in the USA but not on my UK car….hopefully a later version will include this. I’m due an update to 1.7 next week when I take the car in for the Pano roof recall.
