Mach-e. The USA version has a button in FordPass to open the bonnet (Frunk). The U.K. version doesn’t and it is something to do with PAAK which is available in the USA but is not available in the U.K. due to security/insurance rules. I don’t need PAAK, but it would be nice to be able to open the bonnet using the FordPass App. Parking at my daughters house the driveway is pretty narrow so you have to park with the passenger door close to the fence in order to leave enough room to get out of the door. To open the bonnet in this instance becomes impossible because you have to open the passenger door to fully pull on the bonnet release lever.

Hello @Darren & Ikenna

Interesting:

Doing some research about this subject, I found the following post in a forum quoting a message from a senior member of Ford Product Research Team about the Towing Increase & Charge Rate Increase.

Following the announcement for Ford Europe from Germany.

Seems different rules apply to UK. So these were not applied in 1.7.1, 2.1.0 nor 2.1.3

7 May 2022
“The improvement in 80-90% DC fast-charging rate is due to be deployed in an upcoming software update but the deployment timing isn’t finalised. We hope that we will see the first vehicles remotely receiving this software update in the next month.

Ford Power-Up 1.7.1
Apple CarPlay: turn-by-turn navigation in instrument cluster via Maps app.
Navigation: automatically makes helpful destination suggestions and cloud connectivity enables conversational voice command recognition together with internet-based search.
Sketch: lets you draw or take notes on your vehicle touchscreen. These can be saved. A calculator and game are also integrated in the app.

Ford Power-Up 2.1.0
Minor software updates: to prepare for new features, enhancements and larger updates that will follow.

Ford Power-Up 2.3.0
Multi-Day Scheduling: for larger updates that require the vehicle to be switched off, this new feature enables customers to schedule and stagger updates for the most convenient time.
Update Now: this feature enables immediate installation of Ford Power-Up software updates as soon as they’re ready.
SYNC 4A: changes to Driver Assistance menu. Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC) split between Adaptive Cruise Control and Speed Sign Recognition features. Selecting both will deliver the ICC functionality.
Apple CarPlay: dynamic resizing of the app within SYNC 4A.
On the towing capacity improvement, the UK legislation differs from other EU markets. We’ve engaged our Vehicle Homologation team and off the back of this we are validating the 250kg increase on RWD and AWD Extended Range vehicles (excl. GT) can be successfully offered retrospectively to existing customers. If successful, we would share the required steps with the respective customers and our UK dealer network.”

Also I read elsewhere European MY 2022 vehicles with 91 Kw usable towing rate was to increased to 1500Kg??

Could you please update on Power Up update details released in UK since 2.3.0 and what was included?

Thanks

Hi @Darren, thanks for the info. My AWD extended range is a 2021 model (registered Nov 2021), so I assume when you state 5th May, you mean from 5th May 2022? If so my car is still limited to 750kgs?

@JasIII some info below:

Ford Power-Up 2.3.0 content:
•Multi-Day Scheduling enhancements
•Ford Power-Up Install Now Button
•Apple CarPlay Dynamic Resizing

In general on Power-Ups we are looking for ways to have a dedicated space in this forum if we can. We are working through this now.

Hi, can we get an update on the UK Mach E Funk Fordpass opening button? It's approaching Q4 and I've not seen information on it yet. Frunk is basically useless if I have to go into the car to open it.

What's the current status of the frunkbutton in the app? I got an update a few months ago allowing me to open the frunk with my key, but I still don't have the button in the app. Why not? I live in Norway btw.

Hi Joymyr,

Sadly it seems nobody want’s to address this issue anymore, even though most us were promisedwhen buying the car that the electric frunk button would be released in the UK in 2022.

It should not be rocket science since there is an existing electric release by 12vdc wire connection in the front bumper to open it in the event of dead low voltage battery and being locked out.

This FP Community admin can’t be blamed because they are not being updated from Ford UK Technical dept on updates nor solutions.  Also seems they nor the Ford UK BEV team have access to it except by email, that apparently mostly goes unanswered.

Also might explain high turn-over rate of their support staff who do not have any technical knowledge.

We are in a similar boat here in the UK with OTA Power Up updates.  Not at all like in the USA which is up to 4.1.3 now with a ton of features that we in the UK and ROW might only dream of!

I guess we can only ‘live in hope’ ‘

Hi @JasIII et al,

You have made some excellent points. I’ve completely lost faith in Ford. Seems so many things they say are purely to appease the customer at the time, and then nothing happens. My dealer I have totally given up on. They were so nice when buying the car but completely fail to answer any question I put to them, with the standard ‘we will get back to you’ answer. Trying another dealer for the FSA 22P25 Software update so fingers crossed they will be better (they can’t be worse). Anyway rant over, I’m delighted with the car and as long as it continues to run smoothly and all things work I’m a happy camper.

Hey Mike,

Just checked and the FRUNK actually opens by entering the KeyCode on pillar followed by pressing 7-8. Bingo Pop - Hey Presto’  frunk opens!  ( and mine MY21 is a build 1)

So why for life of me can’t this easily be integrated into the FP App? or button on the Sync4 Screen, or key just like Boot on Key or access in Sync4 , or lights &  horn on App? …  It’s obviously  not rocketing science, nor anything to blame on PAAK. So  why all the fuss and leading us all on taking over a year + to get sorted (?).

Guess it speaks very loudly about Ford Tech R&D priorities  and taking care of their flagship EV buyers in the UK.

But sadly we all should have learned that the hard way now.  Such a shame!
