It would be useful to be able to use the remote start feature on the Mach E when it has been parked overnight and not been on charge. As the vehicle goes into sleep mode currently this can't be done without going out to the car and waking up manually.

Just a thought have you tried setting a departure time? This also works if not plugged in to charge.
it’s basically the same as remote start I know it doesn’t suit everyone especially if you are like myself and don’t have a set time to leave but it could be a good test to see it your cars wake up.

also @Chrisw  I’d definitely get the 12v battery looked at especially as the dealer have said it’s a little low. You could run a test to see if this is the cause.
behind the front row eye cover there are two wires that are used to connect a jump pack to get the car started you could borrow one or if you have one connect it up and see if that works after it’s been left for a while.

yes this could be a software issue I’m not dismissing that but the cars are not waking up and as your dealer has highlighted the 12v battery is low this could very much be the cause it might not be low enough to trigger a warning but low enough for the ecu to say no I need that power to start.

I’ve seen all sorts of issues that have come down to a low 12v battery.

there have been lots of issues with 12v battery’s on all different ev’s that have caused some very weird problems.

@chris200100 thanks for the heads up and advice. If the same problem does reoccur Im going to ask the dealer to replace the 12v battery. My wonder is…..how is the 12v battery charged? My dealer made a passing comment when I went to pick it up (and this was from the guy in sales, not the service dept) that he couldn’t see how the battery was charged. Isnt that a bit worrying? I have seen another post from someone who’d had a similar issue and it turned out to be a ‘dud’ battery that was causing it.

@jonno70

They do get charged in a similar fashion to a fuel car, there is essentially a 12v feed from the battery manger controller  and the power is taken from the main 400v traction battery as you still have your traditional 12v systems on an ev like the lights, sync system etc.

The battery is however much smaller than a fuel car as there is no requirement for it to crank the engine via a starter motor it just switches a contacter to engage the main traction battery.

the battery in a Mach e is somewhere under all the plastic where the frunk is.

hope this helps

@chris200100 really useful info. Thanks for the explanation.

As @chris200100 said the 12 volt charging is done via the HV battery and controlled by the BECM. This monitors the SOC of HV and 12 v battery. On FORSCAN I get 13.91 volts SOC% is 96% HV is 75.4% but display says 81% so there must be an internal calculation that works on actual state of charge and current driving M/KWH.

All software is at latest level so must just be waiting for a PowerUp OTA or update on fordpass app.
