It would be useful to be able to use the remote start feature on the Mach E when it has been parked overnight and not been on charge. As the vehicle goes into sleep mode currently this can't be done without going out to the car and waking up manually.

Have an update. My dealer has done 'extensive' tests and been in touch with technical folk at Ford. After installing several updates and getting me to reinstall FordPass several times. They have concluded that there must be an issue with FordPass and that's why it displays as deep sleep. According to them there is nothing wrong with the car, they have tested it thoroughly. This is feeling increasingly hopeless ☹️

@ukcraigrich  I would say if it was a Ford pass issue then it would be happening to all Mach E owners. I’ve never had deep sleep come up for my Mach E and I can remote start mine even after a 12hr shift.

I l’ve had deep sleep on my other Ford car a petrol mustang and I know the 12v battery was at fault as it did go flat, I’ve charged the 12v and not had deep sleep since.

do you have anything like a dash cam or a tracker fitted to your Mach e?

@chris200100 no I don't have any third party devices connected to the car.

Yes I've mentioned that if it was the app then surely everyone that uses the app would be seeing it, but it doesn't seem like they listen ☹️

@ukcraigrich if you’re not getting anywhere, then you need to escalate it as a complaint to Ford  which is what my dealers told me to do if it still happens after it’s had it’s new battery fitted. Claim the car is not performing as per their sales spec, false advertising, not fit for purpose etc etc. I’ll sure as hell go down that road if I still have issues.

@ukcraigrich  I am trying to find out what the trigger voltage is for deep sleep if it’s the same as the petrol mustang it’s around 11.7v give or take a few point of a volt.
I know some dash cams have parking mode and a selectable shut off voltage, if that voltage is set below the Mach e trigger point then you will keep getting deepsleep. But as you haven’t got anything then there no drain on the system.

unfortunately dealers seem to know best when they don’t and that’s not just Ford ones.
I know some car issues especially very odd ones can be a challenge to diagnose but with the internet and user forums why the tech can’t just Google to see if there has been reports of the same issues and see what they have found.

when I get chance I’ll have a look at my Mach e’s 12v battery to see exactly what it looks like and test it.
but do keep the pressure on the dealer. You could also try another dealer to see if they can sort it.

@jonno70 yes I am reaching the end of my tether certainly but too be fair the dealer does seem genuine in wanting to resolve it and sounds equally perplexed. By the sounds of it they are just going off what Ford tell them and maybe they just aren't speaking to the right person.

@chris200100 thanks for your help, anything I can throw at them will only help.

I contacted FordPass help and they say the cars TCU modem hasn't been in touch for a few days and they say it needs resetting. It responds partially which indicates that a reset will resolve it. They also advised that the 12v battery might have a fault as that will register as deep sleep. So what they say matches what you say, now I just need to get the dealer and Ford to accept it and resolve it.

@ukcraigrich   Deep sleep on fuel fords when that comes up on the Ford pass app it states that it has shut down the connected system to preserve the 12v battery.
which is totally understandable in a fuel car as it then allows you to start your car. But an EV doesn’t require the raw power of the battery to power up

the car as it’s not turning over an engine it’s just simply switching a switch,

I know some ev’s have very small battery’s compared to fuel cars saying that the battery on a 5l mustang is also very small for the size of the engine.

I would presume the trigger voltage to be the same across all fords.

Replacing the 12v battery would be the first port of call before anything else is looked at and then go from there.

it does sounds as your 12v battery has a dead cell or two, it will reach full charge but it will quickly go down.

The deep sleep mode no longer occurs. Why, I can only assume that with recent FordPass App updates that something has changed or was fixed. I have a dual camera dash cam which goes into its own sleep mode and will only wake up if the car is disturbed. Absolutely no problem to remote start the car even if it has not been used for several days.

@MikeC Well isnt that funny that you say it……mine has worked perfectly since Saturday of last week. It’s had 10 successful successive remote starts. It was booked to go back to the dealer this morning so I’ve taken it in, and have been told that they believe something has been updated in the app which should fix the problem. Time will tell but its looking encouraging…..

Mine didn't go into deep sleep last night when plugged into the charger. It wasn't charging this morning as it reached 100% during the night but the remote functions were working this morning. It did, however, go into deep sleep 40 minutes after being unplugged though ☹️
