The start stop button is definitely a legacy feature as EVs and even ICE vehicles have the ability of detecting customers. I would suggest adding a feature to disable the need for the start / stop button (If able to with current hardware.) so that pressing the brake will start the vehicle when a fob or PAAK is detected. With EVs this makes much more sense since there is no engine to start and the vehicle is "always on".

As for turning off, the automatic off timer of 30 minutes does work, however it can be changed to automatic off with walk away lock. If there are passengers detected, this could be a condition where it will not turn off with walk away, and default back to 30 minute timer. Furthermore if there is a "Pet Mode" in the works, enabling that mode while in park could also disable the auto off.

I know this would be a big engineering feet with software to accomplish, but many EV owners would love this feature. It is also becoming more expected by customers.

I disagree with this one and think it would make the car significantly less safe. I very much appreciate that the car is turned "OFF" unless I make a very deliberate attempt to drive it. Getting in the car and misplacing a foot whilst getting situated could result in smashing into my garage door.

I would very much disagree with it being "less safe". Remember the vehicle is still in PARK and not moveable at all. it's bypassing the need to "turn on".  You are responsible to shift into drive when ready for movement. Therefore a misplaced foot would do nothing at all unless you shift it into drive which at that point, you've made that decision and are responsible for it.
