Front and Rear Cameras

I'd love to see front and rear cameras as an option, with footage saving and export to the app or USB. Dash cams are getting more popular but fitting and making sure they're only on during driving is a pain. Given the level of insurance fraud, etc these would be a very welcome option.

I’d mentioned this in an earlier chat and it has been mentioned a lot on the forums. 

 

I gather it’s not possible even though my car was listed as having a ‘front video’.

 

You're right it would be a great addition.

@d_vickery @DaveC   It certainly is possible it depends on what the camera feed is like from the camera that is mounted at the top of the windscreen. 
A camera is a camera it how the feed from the camera is processed and if that software can be updated to allow it as a dash cam too.


Car manufacturers should definitely be making this a feature especially 

with the amount of cameras in cars these days but very few do.

The Tesla system is good as it uses the side and rear cameras too, my only grip with the Tesla system would be the angle of view from the front camera is very narrow compared to aftermarket dash cams.

 

@DaveC  The term Front Video I have never seen this in any listing for any Ford vehicle, I have seen Front parking camera and 360 cameras. Both of which are parking aids and the front camera is in the grill or front bumper and no use as a dash cam as it is too low.

Certainly makes sense in this day and age,  we need to able to video situations to discourage criminal behaviour.... plus multiple other applications.

Sigh. Our cars have no “rear” and “side” cameras. There are side and rear PARKING view cameras that are aimed, and have lenses adjusted for low-speed parking maneuvers. 
that said, it would be nice if some form of Tesla sentry system were available as an option, or dealer-installed aftermarket accessory.

There is an option to fit an aftermarket video,  but for such a prestige car I'd of thought it would come as standard 🤷‍♂️
