Can we make the Ford Pass App, and vehicle interface a 'Smart' product?

The FordPass App could then be linked to Alexa or Google Home accounts for remote and voice controlled activation.

So a user could simply say voice control commands in their smart home such as:

"Hey Google, how much fuel have I got"

"Alexa, what is my odometer reading"

"Hey Google, unlock my vehicle" - or alternatively warm up the vehicle

"Alexa, what is the health of my vehicle" - possibly returning information on tyre pressures, oil life etc.

Hi @slowman1

Thanks for your suggestion. It's a great point and our aim is to integrate into the internet of things (IoT) wherever possible. Sometimes hardware, software and security capabilities need to catch-up with our aspirations so I have marked this as 'investigating' and will aim to get some further details from our Dev teams.

I'd add IFTTT to the suggested list of integrations so that users can perform "If weather is less than 0 degrees C AND time = 7am AND Day = Mon-Fri then Remote start.

Love the idea, as a home automation nerd I am currently on around 90 smart devices all talking to each other with IFTTT as the connecting platform where needed.

I currently have my phone set to switch on a light if I enter a geofenced area around the house so it's not dark when I get home. This can be a bit flaky though and it would be interesting to see if the vehicle GPS might be a more accurate trigger too. (The other usage of this is an automatic "I'm on my way home" text when leaving a geofence around work but if combined with a "Vehicle Started" condition that would be more accurate too?)

They are all great, could even do multiples for example 1. Check temperature, 2 Check location 3. Turn on heating if parameter 1 and 2 are meet.

On the compatibility side as with many vehicle TCU's (Modems) currently GPS signals are not permanently sent, with the exception of the latest technology models they send a signal only on key on/key off so this adds a level of challenge in. What I find with these subjects though is that there are generally more than one solution. Think this chat may deserve a thread in its own right. 👍

Totally agree Darren. I think if you had integration capability that it would be great to see how people are using it and exchange ideas. A vehicle on my drive's ambient temperature, if that's available other than at Key on/Key off, for example, would be much more accurate than Google's weather forecast for my general area.

The other angle, and I'm not sure if this is possible with ITTTT would be reminders (e.g. vehicle arrived at Geofence for home but not plugged in / Vehicle not locked / Boot not shut etc..  I probably forgot again ... so get Alexa to nag me when I come in.)

Also this should be global, not just the US

What happened to this idea ? It died ?
