What is Ford BlueCruise?

Ford BlueCruise is a new technology that builds upon available Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go, Lane Keeping Assist, and Speed Sign Recognition.

The feature allows a driver to operate truly hands-free on prequalified sections of divided motorways called Hands-Free BlueZones. A driver-facing camera in the instrument cluster monitors eye gaze and head position to help ensure the driver’s eyes remain on the road.

What are the key features of BlueCruise?

  • Hands-Free Motorway Driving on prequalified sections of divided motorways called Hands-Free BlueZones.
  • Driver Facing Camera monitors eye gaze, and head position, and has the ability to recognise when the driver is distracted.
  • Lane Centring Technology works on any road with lane markings and helps keep the vehicle centred between the dividing line. Lane Centring Mode must be enabled with the SYNC screen before BlueCruise can be enabled.

Which vehicles are capable of using BlueCruise?

At the moment, Blue Cruise can be enabled on Ford Mustang Mach-E models from Model Year 2023 or previous Model Years purchased with the Tech Pack extra. The vehicle must be equipped with SYNC 4, FordPass, and the Ford BlueCruise hardware capability.

To find your model year, login to FordPass and click the Vehicle Dashboard. At the top next to Account, it shows the model year.

Alternatively, click here https://www.ford.co.uk/support/vehicle-dashboard

Will BlueCruise come to the pre-Model Year 2023 vehicles?

Our teams are looking into bringing BlueCruise to other Model Year Mach-E vehicles. However, this will be dependent on hardware and software capabilities. If BlueCruise does become available, we will communicate this to those who are eligible.

Is there a complimentary trial period?

Yes, there is a 90-day complimentary trial period for applicable vehicles.

How much will the BlueCruise subscription cost following the free trial?

After the initial 90-day free trial, BlueCruise auto-renews onto a paid subscription for £17.99 per calendar month. You can cancel at any time.

How do I enable BlueCruise?

Firstly, you will need to activate your 90-day free trial.

To do this you will need to head over to https://www.ford.co.uk/owner/subscriptions

Once subscribed, BlueCruise can be enabled by first pressing Driver Assistance > Cruise Control > then pressing Lane Centring with Hands-Free in your SYNC screen. Once this is done and you’re driving within an active Blue Zone, you can press the Active Cruise Control button on your steering wheels. When you see “Hands-Free” appear in your instrument cluster, you are safe to let go.

Where can I use BlueCruise?

In our Hands-Free BlueZones, they make up around 95% of the country’s motorways. You can view the maps here: https://www.ford.co.uk/technology/driving-assistance/ford-bluecruise

What is a ‘BlueZone’?

A BlueZone is a section of the motorway where BlueCruise can be enabled.

How can I tell if I am in a BlueZone?

If BlueCruise is activated and you are in a BlueZone, you will see the BlueCruise Hands Free icon appear on the screen in front of the steering wheel.

Can I disengage from control when BlueCruise is active?

To disengage from BlueCruise, you can do this by either using your brakes to slow down or by pressing the Adaptive Cruise Control button on the steering wheel.

Ford BlueCruise is a hands-free highway driving feature. Only remove your hands from the steering wheel when in a Hands-Free Blue Zone. Always watch the road and be prepared to resume control of the vehicle. It does not replace safe driving. See the Owner's Manual for details and limitations. Requires purchased BlueCruise subscription to cover data usage, regular map updates and feature improvements. To use BlueCruise you will need to activate your Mustang Mach-E using the FordPass App.
